At last count, there are over 3 million franchisees spread throughout the globe, with approximately 800,000 (or nearly 27%) of them located in the United States alone. Franchising accounts for over 18 million jobs in the U.S., or almost 14% of all private sector employment, and the numbers keep growing at a rapid pace: It is estimated that four (4) new franchisees are opening somewhere in America every hour! They generate more than $1.5 trillion - yes, that's trillion! - in sales, accounting for more than 40% of all domestic retail sales! One out of every three dollars spent by American consumers for products and services is spent in a franchised business.
